At UKM's Faculty of Medicine, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Heikal Mohd Yunus serves as a senior medical lecturer and as Coordinator for International Relationship. His work centres on Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Engineering, where he has broken new ground in rebuilding human tissues from autologous cells. As a member of the committee amending the Human Tissue Act 1974, he has helped shape national healthcare policy. His standing extends internationally: he reached the finals of the GIST Tech-I competition. Stem cells and biomaterials form the core of his research, which has drawn over 1000 citations.
