About

Associate Professor Dr Loh Pui San serves as a Senior Consultant Anaesthesiologist and heads the Department of Anaesthesiology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya, with her practice based at UMSC. Her academic credentials include an MBBS from University of Malaya, a Master of Medicine in Anaesthesiology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and Fellowship of the Australian & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA). Further training took her to Cambridge, UK, where she completed a Transplant Fellowship under the Commonwealth Medical Award. Her clinical focus spans transplant anaesthesia (renal and liver), cardiac and neuro-anaesthesia, and geriatric anaesthesia, with particular attention to older surgical patients — covering risk assessment, prevention of neurocognitive decline, and care for frailty. Dr Loh has been instrumental in pioneering liver transplant anaesthesia services in Malaysia, contributes to national guidelines such as those for hip fractures in the elderly, and maintains strong collaborations locally and internationally. Her clinical depth, international training, leadership roles, and dedication to advancing care for elderly surgical patients make her a highly trusted specialist in anaesthesia and perioperative medicine.
