Associate Professor Dr. Prashant Samberkar serves as Head of Forensic Pathology at University Malaya Medical Centre, bringing more than 23 years of experience to his role as a Forensic Pathologist. His work centres on medico-legal investigations, from autopsies and crime scene analysis to specialised methods such as ballistics and toxicology. By establishing the manner of death, he plays an important part in supporting law enforcement, and his contributions in this area have been recognised. He has pioneered the design of mortuary and forensic departments and also acts as a Medico-Legal Consultant. As a committed academician, Dr. Samberkar has helped shape forensic curricula, supervised numerous students, and holds the position of Chief Examiner for Master's in Pathology. His research has involved collaborations with Harvard University, and he has produced numerous international publications. Over the course of his career, he has performed more than 5000 autopsies and given expert testimony in countless court appearances, offering opinions that are reliable, impartial, and evidence-based.
