Dr Elizabeth George

About

Dr. Elizabeth George is a Professor and Senior Consultant Hematologist whose deep expertise lies in red cell disorders, especially thalassemia. At Universiti Putra Malaysia, she heads the Thalassemia Research group, where her work spans clinical aspects, treatment, screening, and the identification of gene mutations among Malaysian ethnic groups. This research has led to significant improvements in patient management and genetic counseling. With more than eighty-eight publications to her name, she has also contributed to national guidelines. In addition, she serves as Laboratory Director of StemLife Berhad, reflecting her strong leadership in the field. Her approach to patient care is rooted in advancing scientific understanding to directly improve diagnostic and treatment outcomes for those with thalassemia.
