Professor Dr. Shahrul Bahyah Kamaruzzaman serves as a Professor of Geriatric Medicine and practises as a Geriatrician. She is recognised for setting up Malaysia's first Geriatric unit at UMMC. Holding a PhD in Epidemiology from LSHTM, she combines geriatric care with population health, with particular attention to frailty, sarcopenia, and dementia. Among the founders of key Malaysian geriatric societies, she also leads major research initiatives such as MELoR, advances 'Age-friendly' developments, and contributes to shaping postgraduate medical education.
