Professor Dr. Vicknes Waran Mathaneswaran is a neurosurgeon in Malaysia who has been instrumental in establishing and advancing neurosurgical services. A gold medalist from the University of Malaya, his clinical focus covers skull base, pituitary, and minimally invasive endoscopic brain surgery. He founded the Neurosurgery Unit at UMMC and grew it into a training center. His research centers on simplifying neurosurgery, which led to inventions and the co-founding of a tech startup for cranial implants and 3D-printed models. He also developed surgical simulators used across the Asia Pacific and MEDCOM, 'Next Generation Telemedicine.' A full Professor since 2007, he has served as Head of Surgery and Medical Director of UMSC, significantly contributing to its expansion.
