ACL Reconstruction in Malaysia
ACL reconstruction is a keyhole surgical procedure to replace the torn anterior cruciate ligament of the knee using a graft, restoring knee stability and allowing return to sports.
Overview
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of the key stabilising ligaments of the knee, commonly injured in sports involving pivoting and cutting movements. ACL reconstruction replaces the torn ligament with a tendon graft — typically harvested from the hamstring, patellar tendon, or a donor (allograft). The procedure is performed arthroscopically (keyhole) through two small incisions. Return to sport is expected at 9-12 months with appropriate rehabilitation. Concomitant meniscal or cartilage injuries can be addressed simultaneously.
