About

Prof. Dr. Khairul Azmi bin Abd. Kadir serves as a Clinical Radiologist whose work centres on Biomedical Imaging, with a further subspecialty in Neurointerventional Radiology. His MBBS was earned at Universiti Malaya, where he also completed his radiology specialist training (M.Med in Radiology). He went on to strengthen his skills through a fellowship in Neurointerventional Radiology at Hacettepe University Hospital in Ankara, Turkey.

At University Malaya Medical Centre, he holds the position of Head of the Department of Biomedical Imaging & Neurointerventional Radiology, and he is also on the faculty of UM Specialist Centre. His clinical work addresses challenging vascular problems in the brain: intracranial aneurysm treatment, embolization of vascular tumours or malformations, angioplasty and stenting for arterial stenosis (carotid stenting included), and intervention for acute stroke. Research and teaching form a major part of his contributions as well, reflected in more than 40 publications, several research grants, and regular presentations at national and international conferences.

For patients, this means receiving care from a clinician who combines procedural expertise at an international level — particularly for complex or life-threatening neurovascular conditions — with solid academic credentials and leadership in clinical innovation and patient safety. His certification and registration with Malaysia’s National Specialist Register confirm that recognised standards of practice are met.
