About

Dr Ashvin Nair is a Cardiothoracic Surgeon whose practice centres on surgical conditions of the heart, lungs and chest. After graduating from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, in 2010, he completed foundation and basic surgical training at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. He then returned to Malaysia, joining UMMC in 2013, and in 2015 became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (MRCS). In 2016 he was appointed as one of the pioneer National Cardiothoracic Surgery trainees in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship Programme in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Upon completing his training, he was awarded Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in the specialty of Cardiothoracic Surgery (FRCSEd C-Th) in 2022. He went on to undertake a clinical fellowship in Adult Cardiac Surgery at the internationally renowned Royal Papworth Hospital, Cambridge (UK). Through this path he has gained vast experience in diagnosis, management and operative skills in cardiac and thoracic surgery. His keen interests include Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery, surgical education and clinical research.
