Pacemaker Implantation in Malaysia

Overview

Pacemaker implantation is a routine cardiac procedure with well-established safety and efficacy. A pulse generator (battery and circuitry) is implanted under the skin below the collarbone and connected to leads placed in the heart chambers via a vein. Types include single-chamber, dual-chamber, and biventricular (CRT) devices. Modern pacemakers are MRI-conditional, programmable, and have battery lives of 8-15 years. CRT devices are used for heart failure with conduction abnormalities. Leadless pacemakers are now available for selected patients, implanted directly into the heart via catheter.
