About
Professor Dr. Sanjiv Mahadeva is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Clinical Professor whose clinical and academic work centres on functional gastrointestinal disorders, colon cancer screening, therapeutic GI & Biliary endoscopy, and the management of chronic liver disease. He has been a pioneer in advanced interventional endoscopy, most notably the POEM technique for achalasia. His scholarly record includes more than 200 publications and an H-index of 52, and Stanford University recognised him among the "top 2% scientists in the world" for 2022-2024. Having formerly served as Head of Medicine at the University of Malaya, his research interests span GI epidemiology, NAFLD, and disorders of gut-brain interaction.
