Colonoscopy in Malaysia
Avg. Cost: RM 2,750
Overview
Colonoscopy examines the entire colon and rectum and is the gold standard for colorectal cancer screening and diagnosis. Polyps identified during the procedure can be removed immediately (polypectomy), preventing cancer development. Upper endoscopy (gastroscopy) examines the oesophagus, stomach, and duodenum, diagnosing conditions including peptic ulcers, Barrett's oesophagus, and gastric cancer. Both procedures are performed under IV sedation. Capsule endoscopy is available for small bowel examination. Colorectal cancer is the most common cancer in Malaysian men — regular screening is recommended from age 45-50.
