Gastroscopy in Malaysia
Avg. Cost: RM 250
Overview
Gastroscopy (upper endoscopy) is a test in which a doctor uses a thin, flexible tube with a camera to look inside the oesophagus (food pipe), the stomach and the first part of the small intestine (duodenum). It is used to find the cause of symptoms such as indigestion, heartburn, upper abdominal pain, difficulty swallowing, vomiting, anaemia or bleeding, and to check for conditions such as ulcers, inflammation, Helicobacter pylori infection and cancer. Small tissue samples (biopsies) can be taken, and some problems can be treated during the same procedure.
