Bone Marrow Transplant in Malaysia

Overview

Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a potentially curative treatment for haematological malignancies and bone marrow failure syndromes. Autologous HSCT uses the patient's own stem cells (collected and re-infused after high-dose chemotherapy), used for myeloma and lymphoma. Allogeneic HSCT uses a matched donor's stem cells (sibling, matched unrelated donor, or haploidentical parent/child), used for leukaemia, aplastic anaemia, and inherited disorders. It is one of the most complex medical procedures requiring specialised haematology units and significant institutional infrastructure.
