About

Ipoh Specialist Hospital (KPJ Ipoh), which began as Ipoh Specialist Centre, has served the people of Perak as a healthcare provider since May 1978. Today it operates as a multi-disciplinary tertiary care hospital and a one-stop centre, offering the local community a comprehensive range of healthcare services. When Johor Corporation acquired the hospital in 1989, it grew to greater heights, and it now has 235 beds and more than 150 Consultants. As a pioneer hospital providing specialised Cardiothoracic Service, KPJ Ipoh has given patients in the community greater access and efficiency, sparing them the hassle of travelling long distances to Kuala Lumpur or Penang for cardiothoracic surgery. KPJ Ipoh also stands among the first private hospitals in Malaysia to provide Neurosurgery, Oncology, and Cardiac catheterisation. Its commitment to quality and safety has earned recognition: it was the first in Malaysia to be successfully certified by OHSAS (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment), and the first in Perak to obtain the full certification from the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH). Among KPJ Specialist Hospitals, it was also the pioneering one to receive the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) status and to successfully launch the Baby Hatch.
