MedBay helps patients, mainly from Indonesia, find specialists and hospitals in Malaysia. This page explains where the information on our site comes from, how we write and update it, and how our lists are ordered, so you can judge it for yourself.
MedBay is not a hospital or healthcare provider and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. The information on this site is general and may not apply to your situation: always discuss your diagnosis and treatment with a qualified doctor. In a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services or go to the nearest hospital.
1. Where our information comes from
- Doctors: profiles are compiled from publicly available sources, mainly hospitals' own websites and doctor directories, the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) register and the National Specialist Register (NSR). We use these registers to check doctors' registration when we add a doctor or link one to a hospital, but we do not independently verify every detail of every profile.
- Hospitals: specialties, facilities, accreditations and contact details come from each hospital's own published information and, for our partner hospitals, from the hospital directly.
- Patient reviews: ratings and reviews come from publicly available third-party sources, mainly Google reviews of hospitals. They are the opinions of their authors. MedBay does not write, edit, pay for, verify or endorse them. Reviews are matched to individual doctors from the hospital listings, and a review may occasionally be matched to the wrong doctor. Short summaries of what patients say are generated with AI tools from the reviews linked to that doctor.
- Costs: average costs are indicative estimates in Malaysian ringgit (RM), not quotes. Amounts shown in rupiah or yuan are converted at a recent exchange rate and are approximate. Package prices are set by the hospitals that offer them and may change. The final cost is confirmed by the hospital after a medical assessment.
2. How we write and update content
- Doctor biographies and hospital descriptions are written in our own words, with the help of AI tools, from the sources above. We check them against their sources to avoid adding, removing or changing any qualification, position or specialty.
- Indonesian and Chinese versions are translated with the help of AI tools and checked, including automated checks that names, numbers and units are carried over.
- Procedure information and guides are general explanations of what usually happens. They are not promotional, make no promises about results, and are not a substitute for advice from your doctor.
- Doctor and hospital lists, counts and costs are drawn from our database when the page loads. Guide pages show the month they were last updated. Information can become out of date between updates.
3. How doctors and hospitals are ordered
- Specialists in a city (for example, cardiologists in Penang): by number of patient reviews, then average rating, then name. Doctors without reviews yet are listed after those with reviews.
- Doctors for a procedure or treatment: by an expertise score for that procedure, then by number of patient reviews and average rating. A doctor is linked to a procedure when it appears in their profile, publications or patient reviews, or when it is a standard procedure of their specialty. The score rises with how often patients mention the procedure in reviews of that doctor.
- Partner hospitals: some hospitals work with MedBay directly to coordinate patients' care, and MedBay may have commercial arrangements with them. They are labelled as partners and may be listed first in lists of hospitals.
- Doctor lists are ordered only by the rules above. Whether a hospital is a MedBay partner plays no part in how doctors are ranked. A ranking reflects the data we hold, not a judgement of a doctor's skill or a recommendation for your case.
4. Limits of this information
We work to keep our information accurate, but we cannot guarantee that every listing, review, price or translation is complete, current or free of errors. Before making decisions about your care, confirm the details that matter to you, such as a doctor's availability, a treatment plan or a price, with the hospital. Your use of this site is also governed by our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
5. Corrections
If something on our site looks wrong, such as a doctor's details, a hospital's information, a review, a price or a translation, email hello@medbaycare.com with a link to the page. We review every report and correct information we find to be inaccurate. Doctors and hospitals can ask us to update their own information in the same way.
