Prostate Surgery in Malaysia
Overview
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is extremely common in men over 50, causing urinary frequency, urgency, poor flow, and incomplete bladder emptying. When medication fails to provide adequate relief, surgical intervention is recommended. TURP (gold standard) uses a resectoscope passed via the urethra to resect obstructing prostate tissue. Modern alternatives include Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP — the most effective for large prostates), bipolar TURP, GreenLight laser vaporisation, and minimally invasive options (Urolift, Rezum) for smaller glands. These procedures dramatically improve urinary flow and quality of life.
