About
Dr. Lau Peng Choong is a Consultant Upper GI, Bariatric, and General Surgeon with more than twenty years of experience. He was the first in Malaysia to establish a POEM service for achalasia and was an early adopter of fluorescent imaging in surgery. He advocates laparoscopic surgery to help patients recover faster. In addition to his clinical work, he holds academic and leadership positions, serving as Associate Professor and Head of the Upper GI and Bariatric Surgery Unit at the University of Malaya. His contributions have been recognized with multiple awards, and he sits on the board for national surgical training.
