SUBASH R.

Duration of Visit:August – December 2024 Patient: My late father, 76 years old Purpose of Visit:Pancreas biopsy and chemotherapy treatment Experience: 1. Pancreas Biopsy – Dr. Rajesh Kumar Paramasivam Our first consultation with Dr. Rajesh regarding the pancreas biopsy was smooth in terms of appointment scheduling and waiting time. He explained the findings from the CT scan clearly, but we were concerned that he informed us of a cancer diagnosis before the biopsy results were confirmed. While truthfulness is a professional duty, we felt the delivery was too blunt for the patient. The biopsy procedure itself was lengthy but went smoothly. Upon receiving the results, Dr. Rajesh quickly informed us of the confirmed diagnosis and referred us to the hospital’s oncology department. 2. Chemotherapy – Dr. Yugarajah Asokumaran We consulted Dr. Yugarajah at the oncology clinic, and he provided a detailed explanation of the treatment process, which helped us make informed decisions. Our father underwent his first chemotherapy session at the hospital. Dr. Yugarajah managed unexpected symptoms and side effects attentively, and our father remained somewhat mobile and independent during this period. While the nurses were generally competent, we felt that their care could have been more proactive, particularly regarding our father’s well-being and nutrition, as we often had to remind them of basic needs. For the second chemotherapy session, our father experienced serious complications, including UTIs and depression. We requested a psychology/geriatric assessment, but later discovered additional visits had been made without our prior knowledge, which appeared on the hospital bill. Although we did not challenge this at the time due to focusing on his care, it was a concern. After the second session, my father’s health declined significantly. His mobility worsened, appetite decreased, and he suffered recurrent UTIs. He passed away two months later. While we appreciate Dr. Yugarajah’s expertise and responsiveness, we feel a more thorough assessment before proceeding with the second chemotherapy session could have improved our father’s quality of life during his final months. Areas for improvement include: * Delivery of critical diagnoses with greater sensitivity * More proactive nursing care for patient well-being * Transparency regarding additional services and associated charges

I met dr. Rajesh and dr. Suhaimi.. Both of them are super friendly, knowledgeable, willing to listen and very helpful. You have a feeling that you’re at safe hands... My only concern would be the waiting period (very slow) and the cost is very expensive nowadays. Previously it was better under Tropicana medical centre. I hope the admin staff can be more proactive especially when working with insurance clearance for admission / getting discharged...

A very special thanks to Dr Rajesh who went out of his way to assist me. I was so pleasantly surprised to see the professionalism and care shown from the security to the admission to the Imaging department to the Day care and ward nurses. Even the cleaner washing the bathroom was friendly and did a thorough job. Everyone here seems to work as a team. Bravo!!
