Patient reviews
If I could rate this hospital ZERO, I definitely would, and this is especially on Dr Wong Yee Choon. To even call this person a doctor at this point is an insult to the noble profession. My father was referred to Pantai Hospital by another on 15 July 2026 due to presenting symptoms of stroke. After having his MRI cleared, he was asked to be admitted under the doctor’s “care”. Another test was also ordered the next day to further investigate the root cause. He was held as a patient until the evening of 19 July. Throughout the three days he was there, the guarantee letter for his insurance WAS NOT ISSUED due to the doctor’s delay in submitting the necessary paperwork. My father was given the choice to either stay or get discharged by the doctor; however, when the latter was selected, the hospital demanded a sum of RM9k in order to be discharged when the bill that was informed to was us RM6k. So the “good doctor” can’t even decide whether it was medically necessary to hold or release the patient? Fast forward to today, 20 July 2027, FIVE DAYS AFTER my father was admitted, the guarantee letter was REJECTED on the basis of the patient was admitted due to diabetic-related illness. TELL ME WHY WAS IT REPORTED AS SUCH WHEN HE WAS RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL DUE TO SYMPTOMS OF STROKE?! All of five days taken and that sorry excuse of a medical professional decided to write something else for insurance purposes?! Not to mention the lost hours where my father had to wait to be seen by him. The level of care was way below average, facilities are outdated and they still have the gall to squeeze out every single cent possible. Truly appalling how patients leave the place feeling worse than before they came. Three days of stay in a four-bedded ward, one MRI, one wave test, a couple of “hellos” from the doctor and a whole lot of waiting, this was the outcome. If you truly value your time and money, take both elsewhere because this place is run by a bunch of vampires. The Hippocratic Oath taken was not honoured because this experience caused more harm than good. Edit to add: my parents went to the billing department earlier to settle the bill and turns out, the hospital was supposed to reimburse RM300 to them from my father’s treatment last year. If he was not admitted recently and this whole shebang above didn’t transpire, the hospital would have kept mum about it but GOD FORBID if there are any outstanding amount from the patient’s end, best believe they will hound you to the very last cent. It absolutely feels like daylight robbery at this point

Dr. Wong Yee Choon WORTS DOCTOR EVER! At one point, I genuinely wondered he had forgotten how to communicate. No clear explanations, no reassurance, just endless waiting and an expensive bill.

One star I also do not want to give to this Pantai Hospital Penang. My dad was a stroke patient and need to revisit the Dr Wong Yee Choon. First of all, their appointment does not give any time slot, just say Morning. My sister fetch my dad from Kulim to Penang to revisit the doctor. 7am go over.. Reached around 9am and do the blood test. After that they go for breakfast and started to wait for the doctor. So they wait till 6.30pm, still not able to see the doctor. I dont understand if the doctor so busy and need to go up the ward to check other patients, how come still arrange patients to come to revisit? My dad wait for 11 hrs sitting there. And I believe there are still others old patients waiting there. This is how the hospital and doctor treated the patients. No time management. Really SHAME ON you Dr Wong Yee Choon and Pantai Hospital Penang
