1 Star - My rating is for the overall hospital experience, not the doctors. I want to begin by giving my sincere appreciation to Dr Devanand, Dr Meheshinder Singh and Dr Goh Kee San, especially Dr Devanand and Dr Meheshinder. They were knowledgeable, approachable, kind and very down to earth. Most importantly for our family, they communicated openly and genuinely about my mother's condition, the treatment, procedures and costs involved. We never felt afraid to ask them questions, and they took the time to explain things to us. I am genuinely grateful to them for the way they treated my mother and communicated with our family. Unfortunately, our experience with the hospital system itself was very different. My mother underwent major treatment and surgery and later had to be readmitted shortly after discharge when she became unwell again. During this period, our biggest frustration was the lack of clear communication and guidance. There were times when we waited for a very long period without anyone explaining what was happening or whom we were supposed to speak to. As the patient's family, we repeatedly felt that we had to search for the right department or person ourselves before we could get information. The CSR staff were actually among the people who gave us the most useful information about available assistance and services. I appreciate that very much. However, it also made me question why we only learned about some of these things after finding and asking the right people ourselves. As a family dealing with cancer treatment, major surgery, an unexpected readmission and substantial medical expenses, we were already overwhelmed. I believe there should be clearer guidance for families about who can assist with billing, financial matters, support services, discharge concerns and other available assistance instead of expecting families to somehow know what to ask for and where to go. We are also self-paying and not covered by insurance. I do not want to accuse the hospital of treating us differently because of this because I cannot prove that. However, there were times when the difference in the level of communication and support made us feel that way, and I hope the hospital takes this concern seriously. I am also seeking clarification regarding why discounts appear to have been applied very differently between my mother's original admission and her readmission. The two bills show very different levels of discount, including a difference in the treatment of room charges. I understand that different admissions may have different billing arrangements, but as a self-paying family, we deserve a clear explanation of what discounts or assistance applied, why they differed, and whether any assistance was available for the unexpected readmission. My one-star rating is therefore not directed at Dr Devanand, Dr Meheshinder or Dr Goh, whom I sincerely appreciate. It reflects our experience with the hospital's overall communication, patient-family guidance, billing transparency and the feeling of being left to find answers on our own during an already extremely difficult period. I hope Beacon Hospital management will look into our case properly and provide us with a clear explanation. More importantly, I hope future patients and their families will be guided from the beginning about the help and services available to them instead of only discovering them by chance.

Dr. Chen in the Respiratory Department here is absolutely five stars. He patiently communicated with me for an hour, explaining my many questions clearly and in an easy-to-understand manner, and also gave very objective and reasonable advice. It was worth the trip from China. Many of my previous doubts and suspicions from examinations in China were also resolved. He clarified the relevance or irrelevance of many symptoms, so I no longer need to seek random medical advice or make unfounded connections. He explained clearly why and how things are the way they are, and what to do next for treatment and regular follow-up examinations. Now I can face my illness correctly. Although the examinations in China and here align, and some Chinese doctors had briefly mentioned it, it was only here that it was explained systematically and in an easy-to-understand way, providing a comprehensive understanding. This is very important for patients to be proactive participants rather than being managed in a Chinese style, actively cooperating with their treatment. He also clearly explained that my condition requires regular observation and that premature or excessive intervention is not necessary. Overall, I am very satisfied.

I’m writing on behalf of my sister in law who has passed on recently. She has been a patient at Beacon Hospital since 2015 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The doctors who had treated her were Dato Dr Mohamed Ibrahim, Dr. Lum and Dr Lee Foo Chiang who did surgery on her brain, Dr Tho was her oncologist till her passing. Thanks to the advance and up to date cancer treatment at Beacon Hospital. And lastly Dr Goh who treated her when she complained of epilepsy symptoms and fluid in her lungs. They have been very helpful to her and provided her with the best treatment available. She is especially happy with the food at the canteen and always tells me that it’s safe, healthy and flavourful, and she was very happy when her follow-up appointments coincides with lunch time, she would have very good appetite. When she was admitted to the hospital last month and was drained of all her energy because of the strong antibiotics, she told me she wanted to eat more fish/protein to build back her immune system, and told Nany, the head of F&B, that she wanted more fish in her porridge and was very happy that her request was met. As for me, I did my health screening blood test at Beacon Hospital last year and was pleasantly surprised by the friendly and efficient PR staff
