Dr. Yuen Jin Chuan practises as an Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon at Sunway Medical Centre Velocity, where his clinical focus is advanced joint replacement and robotic-assisted surgery. I was again admitted to SMC on May 8 for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome surgery. I was referred to Doctor Yuen, and I had an amazing surgery and recovery experience under his care. Doctor Yuen is an excellent doctor who is very open and patient when answering every question asked. Despite his busy schedule, I truly appreciated that he still took the time to respond to all of my concerns and questions. I will need to return for my other hand in the next month or two, and without a doubt, I will choose Doctor Yuen again. Thank you so much, Doctor Yuen. SMC also has some of the best nursing services. During my stay, I was mostly under the care of several nurses whose names I can remember, Nurse Catherine Low, Nurse Suhashini, Nurse Kho Yea Fei, Nurse Jessie, and Nurse Ainur Riesya. Their care made my recovery and hospital stay much more comfortable and bearable. Very disappointing experience at Sunway Velocity Medical Centre. We were told that if we agreed to be admitted, there was a chance to get an MRI on the same night. Based on that, we proceeded with admission even though our insurance (AIA) was rejected. After being admitted, the patient was only given IV paracetamol, which did not help much with the pain. Basic procedures like inserting the IV took a long time, and during the process, a nurse even dropped blood onto the floor which was quite concerning. We had to press the call bell multiple times just to get attention. When staff came, they would ask basic questions, say “jap eh saya cek,” and leave without clear updates or follow-up. The next day, the doctor (dr Yuen Jin Chuan) visits us very briefly and informed us the MRI would be at 13:45. However, no one came until much later. We were only brought to radiology around 14:30, and upon arrival, we were told to wait another 1 hour because someone else was still inside. 😅 At this point, we have already been admitted for 2 days, the patient is still in pain, and the MRI (which was the main reason for admission) is still delayed!!! We paid deposit RM3k for this kind of service???😭😭 Overall, very poor coordination, lack of communication, and disappointing patient care. Definitely not the level of service we expected.

He was clear, reassuring and meticulous throughout, which gave me great confidence going into my ankle surgery. ✨ A sincere appreciation also goes to my physiotherapist, Lum, for his patience and attentiveness throughout my rehabilitation journey. He took the time to understand my condition, explained each step clearly and tailored each session to help me regain strength and confidence. Lum truly cares about his patients and their progress. 👍🏼 Beyond grateful for the incredible medical team throughout my recovery journey. Looking forward to getting back into sports very soon 🤸🏼♂️
