Dr Liew Kong Yew

I was contacted by the hospital’s customer service team after my consultation to provide feedback on my experience. My feedback was simple and constructive: I suggested that the doctor explain my condition in more layman’s terms, as I left the consultation without understanding the root cause of my pain. The explanation I received was essentially that “sometimes things just happen” and that I should just take painkillers. As my condition requires a follow-up review, I felt that a clearer explanation would have helped me better understand my diagnosis, treatment plan, and what to expect going forward. My intention was not to lodge a formal complaint, but to provide feedback on communication that I believed could improve the patient experience. However, when I returned for my scheduled follow-up appointment today at 11:00 a.m., the doctor Liew Kong Yew(ENT) declined to see me and requested that my care be transferred to another doctor instead. This decision was only made after I had already arrived at the hospital. I had specifically informed the hospital that I needed my appointment to proceed on time, as I had another appointment to attend afterward. Despite arriving on time, I was not informed of the change in advance. Instead, I waited for approximately 30 minutes before learning that I would need to see another doctor. I am now still waiting for the transfer process to be completed before I can continue my follow-up consultation. I found this experience disappointing. I believe patients should be able to provide respectful, constructive feedback without it affecting the continuity of their care. If a transfer of care was necessary, it would have been more appropriate to inform me before my appointment rather than after I had already arrived and waited. More importantly, I hope healthcare professionals remain open to patient feedback, as effective communication is an important part of quality patient care.

I visited the ENT clinic for ear wax removal with Dr. Liew Kong Yiew , Although a large wax was removed, a significant amount of visible wax remained in the ear canal. I was expecting a more complete ear cleaning As a patient, I left feeling disappointed because the result was different from what I expected when booking the ear wax cleaning😞 The consultation was professional, but the overall result did not fully meet my expectations.

Radiographer Wanies and Dr. Liew were extremely helpful and professional during my breast ultrasound at Columbia Hospital Setapak. The whole process was smooth, convenient, and quick. The hospital is currently running its Pink October programme, offering a breast ultrasound for RM80 and a mammogram for RM100, with a complimentary HomeSoy drink included.
