Extremely disappointing experience with Dr. Wong Jun Shyan at ISEC. My parent has seen Dr. Wong several times, and unfortunately, the experience has consistently been stressful and unpleasant. He comes across as impatient when patients ask questions or need further explanation, and there have been occasions where his manner felt more like scolding than communicating with a patient. This is especially upsetting considering that many patients seeking specialist eye care are elderly. They may need more time, reassurance and clear explanations to understand their condition. Instead of feeling cared for and supported, my parent would actually feel stressed and anxious before appointments because of how she might be spoken to. No patient should have to feel intimidated about asking their doctor questions regarding their own health. What made the experience even more disappointing was that my parent recently consulted other eye doctors at a different clinics and was told that there were signs suggesting a “mini eye stroke”, apparently some time ago. We were shocked and concerned because, despite having attended multiple consultations with Dr. Wong, we do not recall this ever being explained or brought to our attention. I cannot comment on why this was not mentioned previously or whether there was a medical reason for it, but as a family member, it is extremely concerning to learn something like this only after seeking second or third opinion. Technical expertise is important, but so are patience, communication and empathy, particularly when treating elderly patients who are already worried about their eyesight. Based on my parent’s repeated experiences, I would not recommend Dr. Wong to elderly patients or to anyone who needs a doctor who will patiently explain their condition and make them feel comfortable asking questions. Very disappointing. ——— (After seeing ISEC’s reply) I am disappointed by their response. Google Reviews exists for people to share their experiences, both positive and negative, and we have every right to share ours honestly. I deliberately did not disclose my parent’s detailed medical information or clinical history publicly. I only provided enough context to explain why our experience was concerning. The main issue remains the doctor’s manner and communication with my parent, which caused them considerable stress and anxiety before appointments. Rather than acknowledging these concerns, ISEC chose to characterise them as “allegations” and suggest that our communication may have been misconstrued. I stand by my review and my parent’s experience.

Dr Wong Jun Shyan’ attitude is very rude. When I tried to explain my symptoms and concern, he repeatedly interrupted me and dismissed my explanation. He keep raising his tone and speaking volume making me feel uncomfortable. Hope the clinic can investigate and take appropriate step to improve patient care.

Never seen a doctor being so arrogant. Impolite and rude to patient. Dr Wong JS is a disgrace to ISEC. I am not the first to comment on his unprofessionalism. Do go through the years of bad review on him and how he treats his patient. If he is so busy, then dun take patient. If you accept patient, diagnose them with care and love. Expect 100% opposite from Dr Wong. See how desparate the ISEC team is defending him here. And Dr Wong himself has guts to reply here to some comments. OMG!!!. Just pray that someday you can feel what your patient feels when you are in the patient shoe. Pathetic!

Had my cataract done under Dr Wong Jun Shyan for my second eye after an interval of 5 years . Reason for the long delay was basically fear despite going thru a wonderful experience the first time . I must say it was absolutely silly of me to miss out on perfect vision just because of ignorance . I must say Dr Wong is just exceptional with his work , right to the point , no mingling of words though appearing blunt . I will highly recommend ISEC for their professionalism , efficiency , well trained staff & no wastage of time . For those of you out there who are fearful , rest assured Dr Wong gets it done within minutes and you will walk out with perfect vision . Tq Dr Wong and ISEC for being just the 1 stop centre for absolutely a gift to mankind .

I recently brought my mother to ISEC for her cataract surgery under the care of Dr. Wong Jun Shyan, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. From the initial consultation to the post-op follow-up, the entire process was incredibly efficient and professional. Dr. Wong is clearly an expert in his field, explaining everything clearly and putting my mother’s mind at ease. One of the best parts about the facility is the convenience, the consultation suites and the operating theaters are located right in the same building (Level 7 & 8). This made the logistics of the surgery day seamless and stress-free for both of us. The clinic maintains a very high standard of care, with a clean environment and a well-coordinated team of nurses and staff. If you are looking for a reliable specialist for cataract surgery, Dr. Wong is the one to see!
